57th Fighter Group
A 1940's World War II Treasure
It's the best kept secret around Atlanta. It's called 57th Fighter Group.
It's hidden just off Clairmont Road, next to the Dekalb Peachtree Airport.
Unless you know about it already, you would never find it. They evidently
don't advertise this 1940's replica. It's designed to look like a World
War II Officers' Club. As you drive up, there are old Jeeps, a wooden
bridge with a guard post, and old war relics all over the property. As you
enter the establishment, you walk through a tiny entrance. The inside is
very rustic, with walls made of stucco and sand bags. The 1940's era
memorabilia is everywhere. The menu will totally shock you. It is a very
elaborate menu, with steaks, seafood and specialty items. As you dine, you
can watch airplanes come and go at the airport. You feel like you're back
in time. It's very realistic.
After you have finished dining, you can go into the lounge on Friday and
Saturday nights and dance to your favorite music. The disc jockey will
play your favorites by request. The music is very versatile, from hard
rock, to swing, to Latin, to oldies, etc. The crowd is friendly. Outside, there is a
large patio, with open fires, and gazebos with dance floors. The
atmosphere is very romantic. The dress is from casual to dressy. Check it
out. You'll be totally surprised.
